Well, we have made it through the first full week here in Bogota. Friday was our Bienestar Interview. Bienestar is very similar to Child Protective Services back in the US. We had an afternoon meeting but still had to wait over an hour. Matthew was awesome. He did not once cry or complain while we were in the waiting area. Matthew was looking sharp and put on his best smile as always. The interview went very well. While we were there, we got to meet our attorney who will be handling our adoption case. He explained how the courts work and how our case will be "lotteried" into the system. He aslo said we need to be patient at this point as there are 8 million people in Bogota and only 23 judges. He told us we would have a pretty good idea of our court timing sometime on Monday morning. After the long day of anticipation and waiting, Matthew was ready to loose the formals and have a soak in the tub.
We try to get out and see different parts of Bogota each day. The experiences do us all some good and help to keep our sanity in check. Kinda keeps us from going stir crazy and not sitting around in the hotel all the time. We made a stop at Archie's pizzaria and it was delicious just like all the rest of the Colombian cuisine we have tried so far.
During the waiting period for our court case to be processed, I will be going back to work at the office here in Bogota while Monica takes care of the little guy. Matthew is still sleeping through the night and he greets us with a smile now every morning. He recognizes us and is turning over by himself and can hold his own bottle during feeding times. He also loves to try and stand on his wobbly legs while we hold him. It makes him smile every time! Thanks for all the nice comments on the blog as well! It is nice to hear from all of our family and friends.
WOW! Great First week! He is such a happy baby. I'm glad to hear things are moving along there in Bogota with the adoption process. =)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that everything is going well. It is nice to know how well Matthew is adjusting to you. Is Matthew teething? His gums are looking like it. Did you had a chance to go to Andres Carne de Res? Easy with the buñuelos, arepas and empanadas... : )
